Find the Source. Stop the Leak. Same Day — Guaranteed.

A leaking washer isn’t just an inconvenience — it’s an active risk to your flooring, subfloor, and anything else in the laundry room. Whether the water is pooling under the machine, seeping from the door, or appearing mid-cycle, the cause needs to be identified quickly before the damage spreads.

Yanfix technicians respond within 15 minutes, diagnose the exact source of the leak on-site, and fix it the same day. We carry door seals, hose assemblies, inlet valves, and pump components for all major brands on every service truck.

Where Is Your Washer Leaking From?

The location of the leak is the single most important clue in diagnosing a washer water leak. Different leak points indicate entirely different failed components — a leak from the front of a front-loader points to the door gasket, while a leak from underneath during spin points to the drum bearing seal or pump housing.

Use the table below to identify the most likely cause based on where you see the water:

Leak Location

Most Likely Cause

From the bottom — front

Door seal (gasket) torn or worn — front-loaders only

From the bottom — rear

Drain hose loose/cracked, or water inlet valve leaking

During fill cycle

Water inlet valve failing or supply hose connection loose

During wash / agitation

Tub-to-pump hose cracked, or tub seal deteriorated

During spin cycle

Drum bearing seal worn, or pump housing cracked

From detergent drawer area

Detergent buildup blocking flow — water overflows the tray

Pooling under machine (any cycle)

Drain pump housing crack, or internal tub seal failure

Torn or Deteriorated Door Gasket (Front-Loaders)

The rubber door seal (gasket) on front-load washers creates a watertight barrier between the door glass and the drum. Over time, it accumulates mould, mineral deposits, and grime that cause the rubber to crack and tear. Even a small split in the gasket lets water escape during the wash cycle, typically pooling directly below the door. This is the most common leak source we find in front-load machines.

Leaking Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve controls the flow of hot and cold water into the machine. It connects to your household supply lines at the back of the washer. The valve can fail in two ways: the solenoid sticks open and the machine overfills, or the valve body or its connection fittings crack and drip during the fill cycle. You’ll typically see water appearing at the back or sides of the machine during the fill phase.

Loose, Cracked, or Disconnected Drain Hose

The drain hose runs from the pump outlet to your standpipe or laundry tub. If the clamp loosens, the hose cracks from age, or it vibrates out of position during heavy spin cycles, it can leak significantly — especially during or after the drain phase. This is one of the more straightforward repairs but needs to be addressed before the hose separates completely.

Tub-to-Pump Hose Failure

Inside the machine, a rubber hose connects the outer tub to the drain pump. This hose is under constant water pressure during wash cycles and is exposed to heat and detergent over the life of the machine. When it develops a crack or a clamp fails, water leaks internally and pools under the machine. This is a common failure point in washers that are 7+ years old.

Drum Bearing Seal Worn Through

The drum shaft passes through the rear of the outer tub via a sealed bearing. When the bearing seal fails, water from the tub escapes around the shaft. You’ll often hear a loud rumbling or grinding noise during spin before the leak becomes visible. This is one of the more labour-intensive repairs, but still worth fixing in machines that are otherwise in good condition.

Detergent Drawer Overflow

Using too much detergent, the wrong detergent type (non-HE in an HE machine), or a clogged detergent dispenser housing can cause the soapy water to back up and overflow through the front of the drawer. The resulting leak appears near the top front of the machine. This is often the most straightforward cause — and the fix starts with a thorough cleaning of the dispenser tray.

Cracked Outer Tub or Pump Housing

In older machines or units that have experienced a hard impact (foreign object caught in drum), the outer tub or the plastic pump housing can develop hairline cracks. These leaks are continuous and worsen over time. Depending on the machine’s age, our technician will give you an honest assessment on whether repair or replacement is the more practical option.
